 What is Library and its uses?

A library is a place where books and sources of information are stored. They make it easier for people to get access to them for various purposes. Libraries are very helpful and economical too. They include books, magazines, newspapers, DVDs, manuscripts and more.

Why are libraries important for students ?

Libraries provide another space for children to learn. They can help students navigate the internet, offer a quiet area for students to study, and encourage students to read.

What is the study of library science?

Library science is the field of study that teaches how to manage books and other information, particularly through collecting, preserving, and organizing books and other materials in libraries.

Who started library in India ?

 Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan is considered the father of library science in India . He was born on August 9, 1892 at Shiyali( Madras) in India. His birthday is observed every year as the National Librarian's Day in India. His most notable contributions to the field were his five laws of library science and the development of the first major faceted classification system, the colon classification.

What are library resources? 

Library resources are those materials, both print and non-print, found in school libraries which support curricular and personal information needs. Print items include books, magazines, newspapers, pamphlets, microfiche or microfilm. Non-print items include films, disc records, filmstrips, slides, prints, audiotapes, videotapes, compact discs, and computer software.

What is a book? 

A book is a medium for recording information in the form of writing or images, typically composed of many pages  bound together and protected by a cover.

Book Care Rules

 
These are some suggestions for keeping our library books in great condition:
 
  • Keep books away from food or drinks
  • Watch hands before reading a book
  • Report all damages to the Librarian for proper fixing
  • Use a bookmark for saving your place in a book
  • Never use a pencil for a bookmark
  • Do not turn down pages or turn a book on its face
  • Keep books dry at all times
  • On rainy days, be sure books are in plastic bags or in backpacks
  • Keep books away from babies or pets
  • Keep pencils and crayons away from your books
  • Don't write in your book!
